This company raised my interest rate (from 5.9% to 16.5%)without contacting me, charged me an over the limit fee when this excessive interest amount pushed my account over the limit, and then refused to remove the over the limit fee. They did offer to lower my rate to 14.99%. I closed my account and contacted the proper authorities.

Their web address is occ.treas.gov/customer.htm. You can download a customer complaint form and fax it to them. They will respond right away with a letter letting you know they have opened a case & it will give you a case number so that you may follow up.
If everyone turns them in for these illegal practices we may be able to stop them.

I was contacted by MBNA this morning. They have changed my interest rate back to the original rate & credited the fee overcharge. I urge everyone who has had the same problem to file a complaint. This might be the only way you can get their attention and save your credit.
Good luck to all of you who are trying desperately to fight big corporations for fair and just treatment.
