How can this happen, my bank PNC bank cashed the check from my insurance company twice. and when we investigated the matter they refused to refund the charges involved. and because of this it also reflects on my personal financial report. and when i asked to speak with a supervisor i was told that they would return a call sometime in the next 2 days. im still waiting for that call. if you think that your money is safe with this bank, think again. they can take your money without permission and when you catch them they refuse to make the situation correct!! if they continue to do buisness like this i see a dim future for this organization

This has nothing to do with the bank. With today's technology, this is easy to do.
One way is through abuse of the check21 process. What your insurance company did is scan the deposit through a machine the bank provided so that deposits can be done without actually going to the bank. What is supposed to then happen is someone at the insurance company is supposed to take your check and mark it up (cross out the microline) so it can't be cashed again, since the check is live. What someone probably did is take your check after it was scanned, and deposited the check....again.
Another way is simple theft. Someone has mocked up your check to be payable to someone other than the insurance company, deposited the check to their account, and the bank would have no idea the check was mocked up.
The reason this is taking time is because there has been a theft of your money for which the bank is going to refund you. What the bank has to do now is figure out who defrauded them (usually the second deposit) and take the money back. Push the issue with the bank, but if it takes time, then it takes time. The investigation needs to occur and the right course of action needs to be figured out. I would also pursue this with your insurance agent because the source of the theft is initiated with the insurance company, either from someone within, or through their own carelessness.

Poor Customer service is not a rip off. Neither are rude employees, because the customers are even more rude than the businesses they frequent. What I find unconscionable is that I've already told you how this happened, yet you have yet to name the insurance company, who did this to you in the first place. You may not like the fact that the bank's fraud department is taking time to investigate this, but cashing your check twice is not something that is the fault of the bank, and they need to find out who stole money from them. Do you have a right to be upset? Sure. At the bank? Not really. At the insurance company?? Absolutely!!
The truth also is this; if you examine the reports on ROR, over 99% of the complaints against banks are without merit because of the controls they have in place and the regulations regarding deposits they have to abide by. Even the cases in which the bank has been found at fault, such as rearranging transactions, isn't really the bank's fault. Instead, it has been the fault of customers unable to balance accounts, and overzealous judges who will get overturned in court. Therefore the number of reports...Rik... is irrelevant. I liked it much better when you were dropping feces in the overnight box. At least that had humor to it.
As near as I can tell, PNC has been a pretty good bank; they keep getting larger through buying other banks and as a customer in which they're financing one of my leases, they waived a $2K late fee when they didn't have to....Frankly, they do OK by me. Doesn't mean banks are great; just provide a valid rip off of one. So far OP, you fail in that regard.
