If you don't like the fees then find another bank that meets your needs better. But when you do be sure to ask and make sure you receive the schedule of fees to make sure you know what you are getting into.
However, here are some things to at least think about.
If you don’t meet the minimum, they charge you 10$ a month. Plus they take out interest withholding, and I have no idea why.
- Have you asked them? They appear to have a free checking account, have you asked about why you are not in that one either?
One time I got a letter saying since they didn’t hear from me, I wasn’t enrolled for free into overdraft protection. I never even got a letter saying that I would be in the first place!
- I am surprised that they didn't try and "rope" you into Signing up for Overdraft Protection. But you probably should take this as a good thing that you are currently "opted-out"
Another time, a relative dated a check to be cashed on the 3rd of the month. So what happens? The bank allows the person to cash the check on the 2nd of the month!
- That is basically a "myth" that banks can't cash a check that is post-dated. That is really just an agreement between you and the recipient. But if they choose to cash the check early, the bank will do it.
Then, they charge my relative a fee of 25$ for being overdrawn! That wasn’t her fault! That was the bank’s mistake!
- Right and wrong. It wasn't her fault, but it wasn't the banks fault either. It was the person who cashed the check a day early.
They should reimburse her for that 25$!
- If the "they" is the person who cashed the check then you are correct.
I can’t turn them in for any rewards because the only catalog they have is one you have to download, which I can’t because my computer is too old.
- That's not their fault that your computer can't handle it. However, I can't see that it is your computer being too old. Granted I don't know how the catalog comes, but perhaps it is the program that is out of date. They MAY be using Adobe Acrobat Reader, which is free to download. Perhaps you may find someone technical at the bank, or a friend or relative who could help you with that.
When it was St. Francis bank, things such as statement copies were FREE. Now they cost 10$! This bank has WAY too many fees and NO incentives.
- If you are asking about the Monthly Statements, just about every bank I have seen allows you to print them on-line for free. If you can't view them perhaps again you need to do some updates to view them in the format they provide.
One final thing before you do leave be sure to cash your "points" out. Because most likely once you close your account those points will go away.
