Before I say anything, if you deal with Trilegiant, KEEP YOUR CANCELLATION NUMBER!
I wanted to try Privacy Guard through US Bank to get my credit report and score.
They charge you $1.00 for this trial that includes the report. If you do not cancel this trial membership within a month or so, I beleive you will be charged monthly for the membership.
Okay no problem, I cancelled long before I needed to and I was charged a dollar by Privacy Guard.
About a month later, my bank statement shows a charge of $99.99 under Privacy Guard Hotline.
I still don't know what this Hotline is, but I was told it was different than Privacy Guard. My conclusion is that it is the exact same thing as Privacy Guard.
I did not sign up for this "Hotline", yet they tried to convince me I did. I told them I only signed up for Privacy Guard and they said if that was the case, they wouldn't have my information and that I did not cancel. I responded by saying that they are obviously affiliated with PG and by that they have my information. I also told them I had a cancellation number and it was confirmed by Privacy Guard that I had cancelled.
The person on the phone begrudgingly patched me to an automated person saying it was cancelled and gave me yet another cancellation number.
So if they arn't the same as PG, then why would my cancellation number for PG work for this Hotline BS?
If I hadn't kept this number, it's no doubt they would have snatched up my money.
Also, when I had originally called Privacy Guard about the issue, I asked if the $99.99 was their yearly charge, and lo' and behold, it is. They just smacked me with the whole year rather than trying to sneak out the $12.99 whatever monthly charge that I have read about happening to so many people.
I'm still waiting for my refund and will update if I don't recieve it.
