TCF Bank showed me as continually overdrawn for over a month but only received one notice. When doing a balance check via my smart phone I was always in the black with my balance never saw a negative. So how can you get overdrawn and still be in the black? They know how to juggle the numbers. If you owe them money they wont close your account until you owe them big $$$$ for overdraft fees.

What did your check register show you balance was?? Guess you do not keep one. That is the only way to avoid overdraft fees and to stop spending monies you do not have.

It doesn't work this way....

You can't just check your balance over the phone, by computer or calling the bank.



The balance shown won't include checks recently written and not cleared.



It won't show debit card transactions not yet posted.



If your bank shows you have a $100 balance and you have $150 in unprocessed checks or debit card transactions......guess what happens next?......right, OVERdrawn.  It's as simple as that.



YOU have to maintain an accurate check register and track your balance yourself.



Take some responsibility and you'll be much happier and have more money.  :)



Ask your bank for help if you can.

So here's what to do:

They're gonna rape you anyway (for that one overdraft) So it's time to take that debit card and head to the shopping mall.  Go ahead and get those things you've always wanted (but didn't want to pay for).

This way, when you end up owing those hundreds, or maybe thousands in fees, at least you will have something to show for it.

You have to be a SMART consumer in today's TOUGH economy!
