TCF Bank makes money by giving false and misleading information with the intent to justify fees. Some employees get off on seeing you frustrated by the difficulties that arise when you begin to worry about how you will pay your bills that month because you're suddenly short $200. You can go into any branch and demand to opt out of their overdraft "protection", but no matter how many times you do that they will always overdraw your account (as a "free service") and then charge you $35. There is no person that you can talk to in person who can reverse more than $15 of these fees (as of today), and the people on the telephone want you to send a fax so that they can "investigate" (as if their entire job isn't dealing with upset customers who have also been robbed). They might or might not overturn some of the fees within 10 to 30 days, although by that time you're overdue on something and paying late fees on those bills. As a result... You see where this goes, and they know it, the customers know it, and now I hope more people know it. Screw them.

"they will always overdraw your account"
Banks don't overdraw accounts. That's done by the account holder.
"Theft, incompetence, preying, trickery, deceit"
Those are overdraft penalties, not theft. Incompetence? Yes, YOU exercised incompetence by failing to maintain a check register. Trickery? You never substantiated that. Deceit? Yes, you deceived the merchant you authorized to debit your account with money you did not have.
Keep your check register current. Easy fix.

Since these crooks don't want to cancel your overdraft protection (because theyre making so much money off you), its time to go to your local mall for a shopping spree!
Now sit back, relax, enjoy your new stuff and FORGETTABOUTIT!
