First of all this was a few years ago and things have changed a bit. First you now have the option to "opt-out" of any Overdraft protection. So what would have happened at that ATM is that if you didn't have enough money available in your account at that time the transaction would have been denied. If you "opt-in" to Overdraft protection you would have gotten the money but then been subject to all of the fees.
The one thing that hasn't changed is why didn't you know how much you had available in your account. That is what did your WRITTEN register say you had available? You did keep one where you could write down all of your transactions when you made them. If you didn't have one then I hope that that incident encouraged you to start using one and you have been since.
As for the fees you would have the OD fee for the ATM withdraw, as well as any other transaction that gets submitted while you are in Overdraft. If you don't have it linked to another source(such as savings or a credit card) the fee was probably around $30-35 per transaction, which means you probably had around 15 Overdrafts. The only way they would sue you and report you to ChexSystems is if you do not bring your account out of the Negative in a period of time(generally between 45-60 days).
By the way just about every other bank would have done the same thing.

Another bank report from you Chris? I guess you didn't like the responses to your other BS report about Chase bank. Folks can read your other RoR here: http://www.ripoffreport.com/banks/chase-bank/chase-bank-charged-107-dollar-9d0cb.htm
Let's see if I have this right.
1. You're a LIAR- you lied about having a PhD! Remember that? It's in the other report you posted. You also lied about your identity! You filed the report as Alan, but your rebuttals (which clearly state 'update by author" state Chris.
2. You couldn't track your money 5 years ago. You didn't pay the OD fees and then cry 5 years later about being in the check system. Boo hoo.
3. Based on this report you couldn't track your money 3 years ago. Boo hoo.
And yet, according to you, folks who have NEVER had an OD fee, or any trouble with a bank, or who uncovered your lack of writing skills are the idiots? LMAO!
What makes you think anyone is going to believe anything you post? That's the problem when you LIE Chris. Once your lie is uncovered, no one is going to believe anything else you post.
FYI, I don't believe you have ONE Master's Degree, let alone the 2 you claim to have. IF you do have a 4 year degree, I look forward to your RoR about the college that granted the degree.

I agree, it was outrageously high, but if you don't know how to maintain a check register, ask at the bank.
If you just don't want to be bothered maintaining an accurate register, be ready for more fees at ANY bank where you have an account.
" I talked to a girl at the dental office she sais they did the samething to her and sued her and took her money."
Then, you'd be helping her by advising here to follow the above advice, too.

So the best "rebuttal" you can come up with is that I must be an employee. Sorry to destroy what ever delusion you are under but I am not now or have ever been an employee of ANY bank or company that is paid to post these responses. If I actually did get paid by every company I have ever been accused of working for I wouldn't need to "work" another day in my life.
I dont like arguing with some idiot who was not even there and is hired by the bank to try to make me look stupid for complaining about thereunder handed illegal actions
- I don't have to get paid to make you look stupid, you are doing a bang-up job on that yourself. By the way I am not arguing, just giving you some facts that I bet are pretty close to what happened and a very good way to avoid these fees. It is your choice if you want to ignore it or not, which by the way I couldn't care less either way.
Congress had to step in to stop these b******s. According that site.
- Congress did not pass the regulations that required a person to Opt-In, that was done by the Federal Reserve. The new laws in no way shape or form said that banks could not charge Overdraft fees. It just gave the consumer the option to "Opt-Out".

This is a link to an attorney's site, fishing for names to file a suit to collect a HUGE fee. The attorneys really don't care about the class members, just that they can make a lot of money.

I didn't even realize you had two reports, and it is interesting in both reports you talk about Overdrafts. So you may want to think about this...two different banks...two different time periods...same results. If you spend more than you have available in your account the bank may charge you overdraft fees.
While I could believe that your mom may not have known what she was signing and ended up with Overdraft Protection when she didn't want it. You seem to continually back-peddle on the amount of the fees. But it is pretty easy to see why you over drafted.
By the way I did take a look at the site you listed, well I think you listed because you left off the dash. In doing this I looked at the FAQ section and wonder since you seem to know it all, do you know what is wrong with the following statement from their site.
1. What is overdraft protection?
Today, when you open a checking account, your bank will provide you with a debit card so you can withdraw money from ATM machines and purchase of goods and services at the point of sale. Banks automatically enroll customers in "overdraft protection," and many consumers are not aware that as part of the process of obtaining the debit card, they have been enrolled in their bank's overdraft protectionprogram.
With this so-called overdraft protection, when you spend more than you have in your account, the bank will cover the
purchase (up to a limit of a few hundred dollars) and then assess fee—usually around $35—for the overcharge.

Based on your poor writing and reading comprehension skills, I now doubt if you successfully completed high school! LMAO!
You claim to have completed one year of law school? Laughable! Tell us, during this alleged one year of law school didn't any of your classes teach the students to READ and COMPREHEND a document BEFORE signing it? This is the first thing any law student must know before beginning basic contract law.
Shees!!! Ya gotta love it when illiterates come here pretending to have an education.
The CORRECT WEBSITE for folks to visit is www.bank-overdraft.com. The website you listed is kaput and the domain name bankoverdraft.com is FOR SALE.

I am not an employee of US Bank, although I used to be (I left them in 2004 when I moved out of their footprint). The secret to avoiding OD fees is to know how much money you have in the bank. If a $30 transaction is going to break the bank, then you have some serious money issues. My advise would be to deal strictly in cash. It's really the only solution for people that have continual problems with maintaining a bank account in a responsible manner.

Who would come to thier aid. I have filed 3 reports one for my mom. one for m all recent stuff and I figured why I was at it may as well file one on us bank. Your arguments are like trying to say a prostitute is a virgin. We all know banks and how they make there money. People don't even need a post on here for that information. All you do by answering over and over on diffrent post even is show how common these practices are. Strangers spending hours defending the bank. A biased witness never has much credablity.

He protects the banks from false statements. He does all this as a hobbie. Even though there are thousands of complaint filed he has the time to answer them all.Without getting paid. Hence his cut and paste tactic. This guy sure is worried about these mutinational billion dollar companys. What his dad a banker and his great grandfather one. No he gets paid to slur the honest and good people on here who are getting ripped off by these giant corporations who could care less about the poor consumer.

Here we go again...little Chrissie whining about his inability to display 3rd grade math skills and balance a checkbook.
If there is anything that has disgusted me these part few years, it is the predilection of too many American consumers toward blaming everyone but themselves for their stupid, irresponsible decisions.
Chris, grow up and behave like an adult for a change. If you can't keep track of what you earn, save, and spend, I suggest burying your money in a mason jar rather than using a bank's services. Leave the adults in the country to use adult banking services.

No way you were charged $520 in fees for overdrafting on a $30 ATM withdrawal. At most, that single transaction would have cost you a single overdraft fee. Between the time you took that cash out and accumulated hundred more in fees, some serious multiple instances of overdraft had to occur.
How many transactions debited against your account took place within that time frame, ie, checks written prior to the withdrawal, automatic scheduled payments made from it, subsequent ATM withdrawals, etc?
How many days passed before you became aware of the overdrafts? What was your overdraft limit? Had overdraft fees already started accruing before you made that withdrawal?
Many pieces to this puzzle are missing.

Yes indeed! I think you should because it is apparent that your alleged 2 Master's Degrees and one year of law school have left you ill equipped to type your way out of your lies.
I exercise free speech and make a common complaint then you publish derogatory comments about my iq and person sounds like defamation. Will look into it.
Yes indeed! By all means look into it with an attorney. I'll help you out with some free tips to help cut down on the billable hours:
Calling an admitted liar a liar is not defamation, libel or slander. You see, O mighty one-year-law-student, the TRUTH is an absolute defense against any such lawsuits. You're an admitted liar here on RipOff Report.
As to your educational credentials (or lack thereof), your demonstrated poor reading comprehension and poor written language skills are self-evident with your postings. Others here are merely exercising free speech to comment about you and your postings.
When are you going to file your RoR about this college that allegedly awarded you 2 Master Degrees? I look forward to it! LMAO!

Same logic.
Same 3rd grade grammar.Same OD problems.
Really people.
Manage your account properly with an accurate checkbook register and you will most likely prevent your OD issues.
No rip off as you signed for the terms and conditions agreement when you opened your account, right?
(Required by federal law).
As previously mentioned, man up and take responsibility for your own irresponsibility.
