I had 2 items on hold forcing an overdraft if once clears.  The balance was $221.78, and the amount that cleared was $158.99, But I was charged $35 in overdraft.  Wachovia uses any method possible to collect overdraft fees, and I am reporting this to the credit bureau of my state and town.  If an item is on hold it has not been processed for payment, and you can not charge and overdraft if the money is in the account. No other bank uses this practice but Wachovia.

Detail..

AUTHOR: Robert - Irvine (U.S.A.)

There is quite a lack of detail.  But if you are saying you had $221.87 AVAILABLE(this is a key term) at the time you spent $158.99 then you are correct there should be no way they should charge an overdraft fee.  However, it would appear that at some point your balance went Negative.  This will trigger overdraft fees at any bank.

If you provide detail we can at least try to explain why it happen and how to avoid it in the future, or that in fact there was some bank error.

Also, there is no "Credit Bureau" of your State and Town, so I don't really know who you were planning to notify.

No

AUTHOR: Susan - This City (U.S.A.)

No, if a debit is on hold or pending it is considered spent.

Why do you think this is the banks fault?

Susan, With the H1N1 flu becoming a BIG problem in the USA, many bank executives might be REWARDED if their employees DIE....

AUTHOR: Karl - highlands ranch (U.S.A.)

as a result of the flu, or any other type of a disease, or even an accident, correct?

'Google' this- BANK EXECUTIVES PROFITING ON THE DEATH OF EMPLOYEES, and read how Bank of America, Wells Fargo, & JP Morgan Chase have a combined $45 BILLION in 'SECRET LIFE INSURANCE POLICIES' on their employees!!!

Then 'Google' this- WACHOVIA COMPLAINTS SECRET LIFE INSURANCE POLICIES, and read about all the other banks who were allegedly doing it too!

Thank you.

#4 Consumer Suggestion

Crazy

AUTHOR: hlbrue@att.net - Shorewood (U.S.A.)

Sorry there, but other than rare instances the H1N1 is not fatal. Unless you have a compromised immune system.

to the OP - I feel your pain. I don't od, but my stepdaugter just had our first taste of resequencing that took her old pay check -- stuff posted with different dates, they backdated, obviously, and all of this for 2.31 OD.

She no operates on cash.

I had to (re)teach her how to balance a register. However, it's not that easy tho you all talk about it.

Just had my bank (local, credit union) kinda screw with me. After telling me "no hold" on your deposit, it still showed up 5 business days later.

But the swine flu is not generally fatal. We are not talking about Ebola, here. My doc is not even recommending it unless it's kids in school (young) or day care, teachers there, and evidently football players (since they had one case on one team).
