I opened the account with the intention of using it as a savings account, but as hard times fell on me, such as being unemployed and such, my other account at another bank had fallen into the drink.
I began relying on the wachovia account, and did not realize, because i had REFUSED it, that signing on with a free checking account means you automatically sign up for way2save. It is only supposed to move 1 dollar, but it regularly moved 2 to 5 dollars from my checking to savings, and it throws me off when I make purchases, because there is no guideline on how much will come out. It recently caused me to bounce a check to a docotr's office for my diabetes.
In September, when I initially noticed a problem, however, it wasn't because of the savings account. For some reason, there was simply hundreds of dollars missing. I couldn't find the money anywhere. And I found on their website that they have your money listed two ways, the actual amount and the posted amount, and I have noticed that they will refuse to pay a bill for me, even though I have the actual amount of money in there, if that fake posted amount isn't enough. They limit my spending ability, and that is stressfull when I am buying insulin!
They send their notices 2 weeks after the negative transactions happen, and they don't process things on time.
Two weeks ago, I ordered jewelry supplies from a reputable company I have worked with for years. I knew, because I had just looked at the amount online, that I had enough in the account for the order and then some. So I wait for my order, and last friday, deposited 100 into the account, checked the balance immediately. The following Monday, I get a notice in the mail saying that 2 dollars moved to way2save, lowing the account before the transaction could take place! That is supposed to happen AFTER, isn't it? Anyway, the account was under because of the way2save taking the money, more than it wa supposed to and before the transaction was even fully processed.
I found out about this most recent unfair activity after dropping a 90 dollar check at a walk-in physicains facility, and had to call them, tell them I found out that Wachovia screwed me, promise to come in with cash. That's really embarrassing. Then I had to call in a stop payment on the check.
This is ridiculous. Not only are they stealing from me, they are cheating me with a savings account!
I know it has happened other times, too, and my fiance had to close his account because they caused us to bomb mortgage payments on BOTH accounts. I have had nothing but trouble since I opened that account!

Okay so you had another account at another bank that because you had run into financial difficuties it had "fallen into the drink". Yet Wachovia is a bank that "I have had nothing but trouble since I opened that account!" Please explain the logic in this. Since your other account went bad, why Wachovia is the "bad guy"?
Also, you stated you signed up and only wanted a savings account. Yet somehow even though you "REFUSED it"(although I don't really know what "it" is.), you started to use a free checking account with a program called way2save. Now, way2save takes $1 PER TRANSACTION. So if you had 2 transactions they take out $2.
"Not only are they stealing from me, they are cheating me with a savings account!"
-How are they cheating you with a savings account? This is what you originally wanted, and the money that is going from your checking account is going to your savings.
"...I know it has happened other times, too, and my fiance had to close his account because they caused us to bomb mortgage payments on BOTH accounts."
-Okay if BOTH you and your fiance have bouned Mortgage payments there must be a lot more here than you are writing here.

Your post is very interesting in that the bank is doing everything they should be doing, and doing things people want them to do (not overspend, set a cutoff, etc...) and you think the bank is ripping you off?
In reality, the difficult thing is your using the savings account as a sort of checking account, which I understand - since you're trying to limit your spending in these tough times. I would probably check out of the way2save program - if you have no intent to use the checking account.... Make certain the checking account is free (because they will insist you keep a checking account, which is OK if it incurs no fees of any kind). If this still causes problems, I would close the account and move elsewhere....
