Bottom Line Books I received a very heavy package today with 4 books, one called Bottom Lines Ultimate Healing and 3 others. I did not order any of them. There is also a bill for $49.00. Des Moines, Iowa

Items sent unordered with a bill can be treated as a "Free" gift, write a short "Thank you" letter and enclose it in the return envelope, You're not obligated to pay a cent, or to return anything, and can do as you please with YOUR books, even throw them away if you wish.

 

This scam is easily pinched in the bud, tell them they've fu###d up and you're not biting.

 

Ignore  any threats.

This same thing happened to me.



Here is what you should do...



Send a letter by certified mail to their headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut, and tell them exactly what you told us.  Then tell them if they want it back, they should send a return shipping label where they pay for the postage.  You shouldn't pay the postage.  Also tell them to remove you from their mailing list and to never send you anything in the mail ever again.



And in the future, if they send you anything in the mail, don't open it.  Just write on the outside of the package--  Refused, Return To Sender.  And then hand it to your mail man to send back to them.  Then they have to pay for the postage.



And never pay them a penny.  Eventually, when they see they are not going to get any money from you, they will give up on you. 



Keep that letter and the certified mail receipt, so you can send a copy of it to the collection agency they will use against you.  You can show them that you acted in good faith, trying to resolve this issue.  But under no circumstances should pay any of them anything.  They must not be rewarded for this bad behavior.  If everyone did this, they would eventually go out of business.  And that's what we want to happen to them.  That's what they deserve.
