Chris claims that I have a 24 year old debt with Houshold of $1,382.39. They are asking settlemnt of $179.71 (13%). He claimed they bought the debt from a compnay that I am not familiar with. I asked him to produce original proof and he said they sent me the letter and that was the proof. I asked him for information that would ID him as I was going to pursue further and he hung up on me. It looks like they are moving from back east to the west end of the map. My sister you does not live at me address received a letter from CMS the same day about a $10k+ alleged debt and they are also offering her 13% settlement. You know numbers is the key when you are fishing. If you cast out enough nets someone is subject to bite. Do not pay these people for old alleged debt like this. I am goin to report to California BBB.

Yep, we've all heard that one - when you ask for proof to validate your debt, and you get the ol' "Oh we mailed it..." story. You think they could come up with something a bit more original or interesting after while. Sorry but the dog ate it, or whatever. Or, in some cases their contact info is so outdated they can't locate you - if they tried.

Short answer here, don't bother talking to them you will never win.
