During the holiday season, I began shopping around for components to expand my multimedia center. After performing a Google search for the new Sony VLP-VW60 projector, I found the best price at www.thecameraprofessionals.com for $3,399.00. I have a PDF screen shot from their web site to prove this advertised price. This can also be corroborated by searching Google's cache files for December 14, 2007.

I made my online purchase of this unit for $3,474.98 at www.thecameraprofessionals.com but a phone call was required on the next business day to verify/confirm approval. During this call is when the salesperson begins his snowball job. He asked if I would like to purchase a bulb or lamp for the projector. I told him that I would be fine with the included bulb that ships with the unit. He lied, by stating that this particular projector does not include a bulb. I was not certain, at the time, so I told him that I would need a bulb for the unit. I asked if this was a new unit. He answered, "yes". The web site also states that all items sold are "new", which should mean that all boxes and materials are un-opened.

Charge on the invoice when item is received is - $4,198.98!!!

The following day I contacted Sony directly to ask if the VLP-VW60 projector included a bulb, the Sony representative told me that the bulb was included with this unit.

Now armed with accurate information, I contact The Camera Professionals by phone to discuss the $724.00 overcharge for a bulb that should've been included with my unit. The first customer service representative was polite and friendly but she had to defer the call to her manager, the same character who overcharged me in the first place. He is totally uncooperative and blowing more smoke about the bulb and shipping insurance. Insurance, I'm willing to cover but paying $599.00 for a bulb that should've been included with my "new" unit, NOT HAPPENING!!!

By the way, after further research the replacement bulb for this unit only cost $350.00.

Save yourself the headache and the court costs!!!
