I tried to redeem a coupon at Ulta on Concord Pike in Wilmington, DE for an Oscar Blandi cosmetic. This is a coupon sennt to me, with my name on it and my address as a Preferred Customer.  They said I could not redeem it because the coupon said it was no "hair artistry brands" were included in the coupon.  It is my opinion that everything that you put in your hair is hair artistry.  I asked for the manager and a snotty little girl came out and said there was a list of brands not covered by the coupon up at the front counter. I told her this was a scam and that the list should be on the coupon - as does Macy's and other large chain stores.  She replied "there is no space on the coupon."  Added to the scam was a lie because the is 8"x3" and less than 25% of the coupon is used for wording.  There was plenty of room to put 1000 (this is no exaggeration) brands on this coupon.  Macy's does it on a credit card size coupon.

The list at the front counter was two sides of a page long - just about everything in the store for the hair.  I wasted a trip to the store and came home empty handed because i will never buy anything from these people again.

Coupon is not a Scam

AUTHOR: Joy - Hazel Park (U.S.A.)

I work for the company and the coupons are not a scam. While in your opinion "hair artistry" brands may be everything you can put on your hair.... they are clearly different. There are Professional hair brands, and mass merchandise hair brands that you can use your coupon on. Certain manufacturers do not allow us to discount their products at "their" request. There is a sign in the store by the hair artistry brands that lists all of the brands that are not allowed to be discounted unless otherwise stated on a coupon.

I understand that you don't work for the company so it's not your job to know all the different types of hair products however the coupon also "clearly" states to see in store for exclusions.

I agree, Not A Scam

AUTHOR: Mia - scottsdale (USA)

I receive coupons from Ulta all the time, and they are pretty up front with the exclusions.  I can't see faulting the store manager if Ulta's marketing department is unable to print every single name excluded on the discount coupon.   They do say on the coupon, "see store for details." What I think happened is the coupon was unclear, and when you asked about it you didn't like the manager's attitude.  This does not a scam make.  Given you that you leveled a criminal accusation toward Ulta, I am sure they won't miss you as their customer.

Go to Sephora.  They have many, many different hair brands.

Good Luck!
