While staying at one of the bed and breakfast rooms and then going for breakfast, we noticed that there were several rooms available for B&B. We also noticed a lack of staffing. During the meal, a handy capped individual came out and said she had been working long hours into the night and was not being payed to clean rooms and make breakfast each day.

She then mentioned that there had been a wedding earlier on where she worked for days on end and even suffered from arm problems from sanding iron tables, with no protection from the rust nor paint being sanded off.

We were horrified at such a prospect of handy capped people being used for personal gain.

When asking the owner about this, she laughed it off and said it gave them something to do. I know slavery in the US is forbidden, but one would hope that Canada did not embrace it as a method of getting ahead.
