Captain Lindsey House, Ellen Barnes Wedding money rip-off Rockland Maine

My fiance and I were planning to wed at The Captain Lindsey House Inn in Rockland Maine on June 13,2009. We met with Ellen Barnes(the owner) on a few occassions and were told she would draw up a contract for us to sign and at the signing there would be an $800 deposit due. The contract was never presented to us and the deposit was never paid. However we still were planning to be wed there a few people booked rooms there that were planning on attending our wedding as well as my parents. My father also paid an additional $500 as a security for any rooms booked without a credit card to secure their rooms. We unfortunately had to postpone our plans due to my grandmother passing away and my fiance being laid off. We never were presented with a contract and never paid a deposit. My father called 30 days in advance to cancel any reservations. At that point he was told he was not going to recieve any refund of monies paid and that he owed and additional $150 to cover a non refundable deposit. He then stated that a deposit was not his responsibility. There was never any signed contract and never any deposits paid by us. My father and I made numerous attempts to rectify this situation and have his money refunded. Ellen did send numerous emails to my father and myself which had lots of untruths in them and admiotting there was no contract but would still not refund the money. To this day we have made many attempts to contact her by telephone and left many messages and received no return calls. As well as my attorney has made attempts to get any paperwork they have regarding the wedding and have dialogue with them to rectify this situation and received no responses from the inn. At this point things are not rectified and we are looking to persue this matter in a court of law.
