I have spent almost a year looking for a job.  I use all of the popular search engines and started using Craigslist as they have a job listing category.  This is a complete waste of time people!

When responding to these "job" postings with my resume and cover letter, I found that the automated responses were asking me to complete a Personality Survey or sign for some offers.  In other words, these marketing companies are paying people to gather email and resume information and they are paying for it.

I have complained to Craigslist 7 different times and they have yet to respond - even though they claim to investigate and get back to you immediately!  I have posted warnings in all of the job sections but keep getting flagged.  I was able to keep one warning post on the board all day and received 27 emails from others, like myself, who were honestly trying to look for a job and tired of being scammed.

Basically, Craigslist does not care nor will they ever.  Do not waste your time looking for a job on Craigslist.  And for companies out there: go back to using your local paper or another search engine - PLEASE!

If anyone knows how to stop this, please let me know.  Thank you!

You can't..

AUTHOR: Robert - Irvine (U.S.A.)

With rare exception where they charge for job listings in certain cities, Craigslist is a FREE service.  So yes by it's very nature you are going to get a lot of scams.

Do not waste your time looking for a job on Craigslist. And for companies out there: go back to using your local paper or another search engine -

- This is a very naive statement.  There may not be as many scams in the newspaper or other job boards, but they do exist.  In fact some of those are a little more sophisticated because they have to be to get by the additional filters and checks, and in most cases pay to be listed.  So you have to even be more on your toes than with the ones on the free sites.

Still Trying...

AUTHOR: Kirsten - Devine (USA)

Dear Robert,

Yes, my statement may seem naive.  But the purpose of my report was to warn other people searching for jobs to just avoid Craigslist altogether.  That site has some value in other areas, but the job category is basically a scammers haven.

It's just sad that in today's economy and the jobless rate that these companies try to scam and spam so many honest people.  I guess integrity is no longer in fashion...
