The St. Louis BBB frequently sends me emails or calls me trying to sell me expensive "accreditation" so that I can use their logo on my business website. I also get a rare complaint from a difficult customer who uses the BBB as a forum for false information or an unjustified complaint. Not only will the BBB post unverified or subjective information from customers, but they make no attempt to retract fraudulent or false posts related to your business. These stay posted for 3 years! Despite not having any legitimate complaints against my business, we still do not have the highest score by the BBB. Unsure why, I spoke to a supervisor, Scott Thomas, who said that I needed to PAY for 'accreditation' in order to get the highest score! This feels like extortion to me.....paying to prevent harm to my company. It appears this company exists purely to benefit off the difficulty of big companies with many complaints, so that the company can pay lots of money to the BBB so they can get their complaints 'wiped'. What a Rip-Off !
