Harry Teasley at 4621 Bayshore Blvd, Tampa, FL 33611 doesn't care if you and yoru family are safe on Bayshore Blvd.  According to Harry Teasley, stepping in the street as you walk in front of his house isn't unsafe, it's the speeding cars that are unsafe.  Sure, he's planted palm trees and a thick juniper hedge in the city owned easement right to the edge of the road.  But that's not unsafe, and the world doesn't need more sidewalk according to Harry.

For those of you not familiar with the area, imagine homes on the beach.  Now imagine if one owner decided to build his home right to the edge of the water, so you couldn't walk on sand to get past his home.  That's exactly what good ol' Harry Teasley has done.  He's planted foliage right to the edge of the road on the street with the most foot traffic in the county.  Harry even threatened to the sue the City of Tampa if it dared put a sidewalk on the city owned property.

If you think that the safety of mothers, children, and seniors is more important than Harry's precious trees, then call and tell him so: (813) 837-9627. Harry's wife died a couple years ago, and he could use some conversation in his life.  Let him know that his selfishness hasn't gone unnoticed, and the "common folk" as he calls us won't soon forget his attitude toward our safety.  Hope it was all worth it Harry....

#1 Consumer Suggestion

You are so right!

AUTHOR: Larry - Phoenix (U.S.A.)

Living nowhere near Tampa, I looked at Google Earth's Street View pictures.

There is a low wall near the edge of the property.  In the space between the wall and the curb, where everyone else has a sidewalk, this guy has planted a row of palm trees and bushes.

Have you complained to the city?  If the city has an easement for a sidewalk, then the city has the authority to remove all the plants and lay down a sidewalk.  Maybe even at Harry's expense!

Check the plat and see if the sidewalk easement is dedicated to the public. If the dedication is to the public, then any member of the public may remove the plants and create a sidewalk.  Get your friends and chainsaws together and have a party.

You could also file a lawsuit to force Harry to remove the plants.  That would mess up any plans he has to sell his home in the near future.  It looks like quite a mansion.
