If you're thinking of doing business with "The Boat Connection" my short response is to please steer away from these guys.

The reason I chose them is because I couldn't find many complaints against them. There was a complaint with them listed at this web site, but the owner had responded and I thought that was a decent thing for him to do, but after getting ripped off, I see that the owner's long winded response to complaints is his method of operation. Just cheat people and make long rebuttals that sound fair even though they have nothing to do with the facts-- that takes quite a twisted ego to convince yourself you are right despite mounting reasonable evidence that you screwed up and just cheated someone.

I contacted the local Better Business Bureau about the Boat Connection, and the owner sent back a lengthy response that made it sound as if I were an arch-villian and the Boat Connection was run by a sainted good-doer. I was galled by his audacity. He personally told me the cable shift bellows he replaced in my boat was replaced with a "defective" one, but in written rebuttal he mentions I probably damaged the bellow myself by hitting a stick in the water. Come on. I had the boat in the water two minutes before I noticed it taking on water. The BBB is USELESS. All a company has to do is pay to "belong" to the BBB and basically pay off complaints against themselves. This is nothing more than a scheme against the public disguised as a public service!

Back to the Boat Connection. Yes, I am such a horrible customer to expect that my boat, yes it is old boat, be fixed properly. If the owner thiks he can blindside legitimate complaints with a whitewash of prevarications and Bullsh*t, then I will parse every sentence this guy reponds to and I will respond with the facts. If you want to risk the same fate, then walk in there and believe everything the guy tells you. Honestly, I don't know how such people live with themselves. Save yourself the aggrevation and find another boat mechanic. He boasts of 23 years and good BBB rating. These things don't mean much after you've gotten cheated and lied to by the guy. His family owns the property and look it up at Palm Beach Customer Property Appraiser. They sit there like a spider waiting for flies to fall into their web.
