Hi everyone.

Thanks for the supportive comments. It appears I am not alone in having trouble with Davey Marine.

I have now filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau in hopes they can help me get some of my money back from these guys. When they swiped my card, without my knowledge, I had no idea they would try to just steal money from me they didn't deserve. Hopefully the BBB will help.

Be careful with these guys. I would clearly never trust them again.

Former Davie Marine customer.

Davie Marine Center Scam Continues

AUTHOR: Mike - (USA)

Hi all,

I am hearing I am not the only one taken aback by the practices at Davey Marine. As of this date they have still not returned the money they took from me when they charged me for parts and labor I did not need. And, I haven't heard from them. It looks like that may be standard practice for them. I have filed a complaint with the BBB and can only hope they will make Davey Marine clean up their practices.
Be careful, especially with Davey's service people. Honest, it's just an awful thing to have to go through and then feel almost helpless after being taken.

Better Business Bureau Update

AUTHOR: Mike - (USA)

Hi everybody!

Davey is now fighting their overcharges with the Better Business Bureau. The complaint was issued and now Davey is dragging their heals in responding, always waiting until the last day possible to answer the charges.. As of this date they have still not reconciled the issue, and are continuing their practices. In this case, charging for service that was unnecessary and for replacement parts that were not pertinent to fixing the original problem. It's a mess and they are still holding my money this whole time. Remember, this is the case where they swiped my card without me knowing it.
Be very careful with giving them your money...They swiped an extra $1600 that belongs to me that was never authorized.
Mike

Davey Marine Tries to Dodge Better Business Bureau

AUTHOR: Mike - (USA)

Hi all,

Davey Marine is now trying  to convince the BBB what they did was fair. The problem is they are shading the truth and not providing honest information. Below is my response to the Better Business Bureau that explains clearly the tactics Davey used to defraud me and my family of $1600 of unnecessay work and overcharges. They were caught overcharging me and are still trying to wiggle out of the problem by flat out telling falsehoods to the BBB. hERE IS MY RESPONSE TO THE bbb:
To: Better Business Bureau
It is clear that Davey  Marine continues to dance around the issue. I suggested in my last communication that I did not trust Davey Marine to send the correct pumps to Yamaha for testing and that indeed, may be what has happened. Here's why:
Davey says the pumps that were tested were "seized". In point of fact, my pumps were not seized, the motor and gasflow did start and that is documented by their very own techs who took my boat out for testing back in May. The pumps were not seized then, so whose pumps did Davey send to Yamaha for testing?
Davey's second point is that they have been paid by my credit card company. That is true and that is why I am trying to get my $1600 back. They swiped my card, without my approval, and while we were negotiating how much payment was appropriate. They NEVER told my they had swiped my card, never called me to tell me they had done so, and 10 days after they did, I recieved the statement in the mail. At that time it was too late to go back to them. They had been negotiating a lower price with me because they knew they had been caught padding the bill and performing work that was not needed to remedy the problem with my motor...that problem was merely the idle adjuster.
To the BBB: Please ask Davey why they felt they needed to negotiate a lower price with me back in July if they had only done the appropriate work. PLEASE, ASK THEM.
Davey has defrauded me and my family of $1600 by performing unnecessary work on my motor. They gave me back my motor after putting 2 pumps in that did not correct the problem I first took to them. They had to go back an extra time to put in an idle adjuster and only then did the motor run correctly at lower RPMs...which was the original problem all along.
I repeat, the motor and pumps performed perfectly before I took the motor to them for the idle problem. New pumps were not needed.
They lied then about the problem, and it appears they are continuing to try to cover up the fact that they were caught padding the work effort and bill. They were just caught flat out.
I do not accept their comments.
Mike
