They sent me a yellow post card in the mail in July 2007, saying that they are trying to reach me regarding the $25,000.00 "Dream Come True" sweepstakes. I called the phone number on the notice and they told me that I received the notice because I was a credit card user. They made me purchase a few magazines and ask for my credit card number and charged me $59.87. They sent me a confirmation letter, saying that I will receive 6 magazines for 2-5 years. They said they will bill me 16 monthly payments of $59.87 on my credit card.

I think they are overcharging me for these magazines. I called their customer service number at 1-800-851-8934 to cancel the magazines that I ordered, but they did not listen to a word that I said and told me that I cannot cancel the magazine order, but can switch to different magazines.

So far, I had not received anything from what they claim that I will receive. What I want is for the Subscriber Services, Inc. to cancel all magazines, refund the $59.87 that they charged on my credit card and to not bill me anymore.

In response to how Subscriber Services "makes someone subscribe":

AUTHOR: Steve1213 - Cohoes (U.S.A.)

Subscriber services have some mechanism where they can get your credit card number. When I got the pitch, about the mens sport watch and the 25 million dollar drawing and the limited magazine trial, they called me back, probably not realizing they just spoke to me and stated that they wanted to confirm my credit card number which they had. They also made some statements about giving me a gift card to walmart for being a good walmart customer. I recieved none of the above with the exception of about 100 lbs of magazines I didnt want and a lot of credit card debt.

As to Christina's question about how they make you subscribe, in a nutshell they charge your creditcard against your will. Calling this company and asking for a refund or for your account to be cancelled is useless. In a nutshell the people you talk to on the phone lie.

AUTHOR: Clifford - South Haven (U.S.A.)

How did they get your credit card no.? Did you give it to them when they asked to confirm it?

Obviously you have the very careful with these people. Better yet, don't talk to them or call them.

How they get credit card numbers

AUTHOR: Steve1213 - Cohoes (U.S.A.)

I did not give them my credit card number over the phone. I was asked to confirm my credit card number which they already had. I was told that they were somehow affiliated with Wal mart , and that I was entered in the sweepstakes and was getting the gift offers because I was "a good walmart customer" Apparently this was a lie. I have seen no evidence that Subscriber Services is in anyway affiliated with Walmart or Sams Club.

The best I can figure is that one of the companies that I did business with on the internet sold my credit information to Subscriber Services. I am in the process of filing a class action lawsuit against Subscriber Services and it's CEO David Keown. If I do find out that it was one of the companies I did business with online that sold Subscriber Services my credit information, I will file criminal charges against them without wasting any time. That is just unconscionable, un acceptable, un american and inhuman. I will be sure that those guys go to jail.
