UPSI They're now in Ellicott City, Maryland! Buford Georgia

I just wanted people to know that this company isn't just working the Frederick Maryland Area. They are now walking the streets of Ellicott City, Maryland. A boy came to my door on July 20th, 2007 and sold me a cookbook. He told me that he lived down the street on Tuscany Rd and that I probably know his mother Kim, who walks their 2 black labs in our development. I asked him which house # he lives at & I wrote it down. He told me he was home schooled and was trying to make money for his travel baseball team to go to Hawaii for a tournament. I was very interested since my son was also looking for a baseball travel team to play on. I asked him the name of the team and organization. I wrote it down and told him that I was going to look it up on the internet. He told me it was a new team so I probably wouldn't find it on the internet.

That should have been enough for me to see it was a scam, but I still didn't realize it. I also noticed the paperwork with the books to choose from didn't have any company name on it at all. In any event I did order the book and gave him a check at my front door, which has a table and chair on my porch. He asked if he could come in, so he can sit and write the receipt. Since my sons were home, I said OK. Stupid me. He told me how nice my house was. So now I'm thinking that the kid is casing my house for a future robbery. I should have just tore up the check and asked him to leave, but I'm still thinking he's just a kid from the neighborhood.

As soon as he left, I googled the name of the baseball team. Of course it didn't exist. Then I checked our community records and found that the house # he gave me doesn't exist. So then I googled UPSI in Buford, GA and came up with the rip off report from ripoffreport.com saying that UPSI is a clearing business through United Family Circulation and it's 50/50 if I'll ever receive what I ordered. What the boy told me was word from word what the report said that they would say. If it was a valid company, they wouldn't have to ask the solicitors to LIE about who they are and where they're from and why they're selling these items. So I immediately went on-line and stopped payment on the check. It cost me $31 to stop payment on a $40 check, but I figured I'd rather have the bank have my money for my stupidity and not THAT company.

Pay attention to all of the warning signs. We are taught if it doesn't feel right, go with your instincts. It didn't feel right as soon as he asked to come into my house when I had a table and chair right next to my front door. I should have listened to the inner warning. I should be thankful that nothing worse happened!
