I joined Double Day for the discounted books. I fulfilled my membership requirements within one month of joining by purchasing $150.00 worth of books (these WERE NOT even CLOSE to a discount). I then cancelled my membership.
I then recieve maybe 4 hardcover books- NOT in my specified genre and Double Day charges me $140.00. My memebership had been cancelled. I didn't order these books, I didn't want them, and I was not even a MEMBER. I contacted double day and double day FINALLY gets back to me 4 months later telling me to mail back the books- I WILL NOT PAY to have those books, that I NEVER ordered, sent back. Eventually, they send me a shipping tag butI am already in collections and at this point- I don't even know where the overpriced, crappy books are.
I never ordered these books- I had fulfilled ALL of my purchasing obligations- I should not have EVER recieved those books and I should NOT be on collections.
Double Day has no way of contacting them except through mail. They have no RIGHT to be making orders for customers, particularlly, $140.00 orders. They are scam artists and should be shut down. I was lucky to put a stop payment to their charges. DO NOT JOIN- they harrass me weekly about paying them for a product I DIDN'T order and now it is on my credit report- it's not fair that they can do that- where are the CONSUMER'S RIGHTS??? We don't get to add small print to agreements or automatically destroy a company's credit- Why should they be allowed to do that to us????
