Grolier rip-off! Norwich Norwich

My wife received a telephone call from Grolier saying 'do you want to try FREE books?' She said yes because she was told the y were FREE! They sent the books with a bill (!) for £11.97. The documentation stated that she had seven days to return the books but she would have had to pay the postage herself to return the books.

We refused to pay but my wife eventually paid £23 to close the account membership that had been opened. She had received a string of threatening letters from them. Grolier, however, have informed the credit reference agencies of a default against her. We are thoroughly disgusted and are considering making life miserable for Grolier over this matter.

It is appalling that my wife, who has an otherwise excellent credit rating, has now got a default registered against her at our address having been duped into receiving those books. It must be worth Andy (who has filed a separate Rip Off Report on this website)checking to see if there is a credit reference default against his wife.
