I just want people to know that I am willing to show my home as an example as to what to look for before purchasing. Also, as an example for shoddy workmanship from the builders. In 10 months there has been about 100 homes put up and when I moved in my home there was only about 7 or 8 homes up.

Put a large sign in your front yard with the FACTS only, as you've stated them here. Several builders had that happen to them here in town and they repaired the problems ASAP. Nothing looks worse then a pissed off customer when people drive through a neighborhood.
On the other hand, one builder here in town sued a couple for doing just that and for building a web site with the same information. The guy and and his wife were both Col. in the air force I believe and the builder sued 'em for like $500,000 or there abouts.
So just stick to the facts. Many states have very weak laws when it comes to homebuilders because the builders give so much money to the politicians.

I am the owner of the home and I do accept responses good or bad, for or against. I wouldn't state anything that wasn't fact. The problems within my home speaks for itself, all I have to do is show anyone and it will be proven without doubt. Personal feelings are something that I can and will keep out of my statements however, I am a very upset and tired homeowner, who purchased a home and pay over $1000 a month. I don't have the right to LIE and I won't ever do that. But, I sure have the right to be UPSET and I am.
All I want is for one TV show to be willing to put what they see in my home on air, simply because this should not be allowed and stood for any longer by any homeowner and it's utterly ridiculous. Everyone knows it's happening, yet there are not enough real help out there for people like me. You think I am the only one complaining, NO, I am not.

Blackwell and Backwell Construction is not the only one at fault; the City of Clarksville has to approve and inspect all stages of construction that go on. Alot of stages are "over-looked" and construction is still allowed to go on. It is the only construction company in the City of Clarksville that I have ever worked for where this has been allowed to happen.
Their unproffesional attitude has been seen by many. They seem to think they can do or say what ever they want to their customers and employees. I have heard many times that "We are in control of the big show." It is very interesting how they get away with so much and stay in business.

The person who is an ex employee are you one of Blackwell & Blackwell Construction? Right before Christmas 07 Blackwell has been given a cease and desist, meaning they can not build homes any longer at this point and time. Why? Because they do not have a legitimate license now or (ever had) to do so, so any of you who have homes built by them know this is fact. It's time to take action against these shady, shoddy builders. I have tried in every way to try an have this rectified, I even have written two certified letters to them, they have not sent back one signed receipt.
The postmaster said no one answered the door and they left a slip for them to pick it up and they didn't. This was Dec 19 2007 I sent the first one. I sent another one on the 3rd of Jan 2008 still nothing. So, I contacted the guy who is their right hand man, and who sold me the house and he said "they done nothing wrong". I challenged him to call the board, but don't know if he did or didn't. I've asked for my money back etc.. but haven't gotten a response, so I am now going to take it a step farther with this new information. By the way, the license they
were building with was their father's, which is totally illegal to do. It's not a family business license, it was a individual business license. Of course they could work for the business but not as partners or solo, but as employees. The contracts they've signed with us homeowners, banks, title company's etc, technically or not legal because they wasn't suppose to be a company at all operating under a partnership of Blackwell and Blackwell which are Chris and Eric.
Look at your contracts, it's plastered all over them. Contact the Contractors Licensing Board in Nashville, TN and ask for Ms. Lazenby to find it out for yourself. Even with this major new evidence, they still have the nerve to be with attitude. So, it leaves me no other option then to do what I am going to do. I've tried to do all I can but they don't want to do the right thing, so I am forced to take things to higher level to receive the assistance and justice, I deserve. My home is much worse than before, it's a complete embarrassment.
Since my report here, I've contacted the real estate company (Keller Williams) the two top bosses and they wouldn't even respond. I even went as far as to send them a big packet with about 25 pictures and even asked them to take the home and sell it, they still wouldn't respond.

Just wanted to report that after I got home yesterday, I had not one but both green receipt cards in the mail. I wanted to update on this so they can't say I was not telling the truth about not getting my return receipts. Thank you,

Just wanted to respond in defense for the Blackwell Construction company. In no way do I directly work for Blackwell and Blackwell. I have sold numerous homes that Blackwell and Blackwell have built or helped build. Over the past 4 years I have sold over 14 homes that they have built. I keep in contact with all my previous clients and they have had nothing but pleasure dealing with Blackwell and Blackwell. As a matter of fact 2 have asked them to build them a new home somewhere else. I have a few statments to make that will hopfully clear your issues up.
1. Why did you close on the home at all before these problems were addressed. You do a walk through before closing, you address any problems then. Houses don't just fall apart after you build them no matter who the contractor is.
2. Houses settle, you will have cracks here and there, especially in concrete. The lines in your driveway are not put there for looks, they are there to manage the cracks. With less concrete in those lines the concrete will crack there first to make it not so noticable. The cracks in the walls and corners are called sttlement cracks, they happen so often that they are named settlement cracks.
3. Builders warranty, the warranty is covered by who ever preformed the work. So if every item on the house was subcontracted out, then you need to be contacting the correct sub. If you can not get it resolved through the Sub, then it falls back on the Contractor.
4. I have sold a home of just about every builder in Clarksville. Blackwell and Blackwell is one of the best on my list, as far as follow up and Professionalism. They put more upgrades in the homes than most other builders and still charge the same the same house built by another builder with less upgrades.
5. As for the situation with the license, We don't know the full story, we only know what we were told. Rumors. Many family building companies have been grandfathered in when the father retires and the kids take over. Since Chris was building most of the home for the past few years they should have recieved the same curtousy, but didn't.
Finally, Slander, is a slippery road. You should be careful about what you say, you could lose more than your not perfect home.

I know who you are just as you know who I am. You give yourself away, it's obvious you know the Blackwell's very well and you are just as crooked. By being so defensive in the evidence of wrong, all it means is you are friends of theres, duh!. Christopher and Eric Blackwell and their father know they committed fraud. They also know that it's true every word I've said. So you keep defending them and maybe the law will eventually get you too. You as the Seller is just as guilty because you knew they were frauding the public, you knew their father wasn't in the business, but was allowing his son's to use his license, you knew their father was supplying the board with financial papers to renew his license so the son's could use (I presume you knew that because how else could they get use his renewed license if they weren't licensed at the time)? You also knew that all the permits they got from the city of Clarksville, were gotten illegally. So don't try to defend people who have profited greatly by lying, cheating, frauding, the public. I've gone through hell over this because I am in my mortgage contract illegally and everyone knows (the mortgage company, consumer affairs, the board, the attorney general, you, them, the title company, etc) yet I'm still forced to pay it. My home is falling apart all windows and door frames are cracked badly, cracks across the walls (also corners, everywhere throughout the home), bulges, bubbles, dents, nail holes (also indented nail holes and protruding nails), celings have nail areas where the paint has come off in several places in the cathedral ceiling, foundation bricks around entire house on outside are cracked and inside in the base of garage, I can on for ever. So PLEASE DON'T GIVE ME THAT CRAP ABOUT A NOT SO PERFECT HOME. I WOULD SETTLE FOR A DECENT ONE AND IT DON'T QUALIFY FOR THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!! With paying over $1000 plus a month I have a right to complain, especially since the Blackwell's are so wrong. In TN the law says that you can't build unlicensed anything over $25000 or it is a class c misdemeanor, they've built hundreds, so that should constitute some felonies in the court of law. This will come to a head soon. Do your research, know what slander is. I can prove all I've said. Also, research the fact that crimes like this has caused some builders jail time. In the end we'll see. I've tried to settle many times but they chose not to and they didn't honor the warranty either. So on top of me being in my home illegal and it's raggedy and falling apart, I am stressed greatly over all of this.
To others who read this!!! There's so much more I can add to this that has happened, but I challenge any of you to read more on www.worldlawdirect.com and enter Blackwell once you enter the forum and read all that has happened.

I'd just like to address the concerned realtor's response...
This home owner is supposed to 1) Name, 2) Locate, 3) Contact and 4) Get these subcontractors to fix each individual problem? That sounds like a crappy company line to me... I doubt very much if the OP hired each of these subs, so to me, it's the builder's responsibility to address these issues, calling the subs if they have to.
And they assumed their license was grandfathered in because that's the way it should have been? Seems flaky...
I didn't see anything here that would keep me from avoiding this builder, doubly so due to that half-a$$ed response...

Hi,
Seems that we have a lot in common. I would like to talk with you about the information you have gathered. If you would be willing to share it with me, I would be grateful. I would really like to be able to talk with you on the phone if possible. I'm not ready to file a report on here yet and am waiting to resolve the situation that I have with the above mentioned company. I have documentation that makes my complaint solid, but I would like to know about the company not being licensed. If thats the case, I would like to know more about the path you have been on (ie....what agencies you have worked with that gave you results).
After reading some of the information that has been posted here, I understand your frustration. This is a genuine request.
Respectfully,
R

To the person who has left the message for me. Go to (((ROR REDACTED))) and put in Blackwell and Blackwell Construction, there are two post, one that contains 35 response and one that contains 53 response you can find most answers to your questions there. If you really want justice then you have to file a complaint, but you can file without placing your name. Since my initial complaint the state of tn has allowed one of the son's a license, unbelievable I know.
