This company built me a home design, in which they allowed me to make changes to the existing floor plan, that included 20' columns on the porch. However, being that they have never customized a home to build, they pretty much experimented on me. They home took 5 months to build. The materials were left out in the weather. The first floor was exposed for 44 days to the rain. The top floor exposed for well over thirty days.

When they put the roof on, the needed to replace tothe first floor from the water damage. They put a 1/2" floor over the existing floor and guess what, now the entire floor is screwed. The chimney is over 26' in the air, it's off, leaning into the roof and they said legally, it can be off 1/4 to 1/2" plumb. The windows are crooked to where the blinds will not fit, the top of the windows are crooked. The same response, that the margin of error can be at least a 1/2". well, if the top is 26" and the bottom is 24 1/4", your blind won't work.

This home was built in 2000 and to the eye it's gorgeous. Four 20' columns across the porch. However, it was built out of no. 2 lumber that they delivered in the rain, build in the rain and expose to the rain.

There's many homeowners that have been screwed, but are afraid that nothing will ever be done. For well over thirty years they have messed over the less fortunate citizens wo put their land up in exchange for a home built out of poor lumber and under skilled contractors.

Something needs to be done, because they have poor contractors that are given so days to complete a certain part of your home, whether is done to code and standards or not, they don't care and I wished I never built my home through Jim Walter and Midstate homes.
