Mike Merit of The Homedics, Inc. installed a randon mitigiation system at my home in Denver, CO on April 23, 2009. I paid Mr. Merit the $750 that he quoted me for the job, even though he still had to come back to repaint our downspout. In his quote, he promised that the downspout would match the existing one that it was mounted next to, but he did not have the correct paint on the day he was here. I trusted that he would return in a couple of days to complete the job. After 4 or 5 days, I called to find out when he would be by. He told me “in a day or 2”. When that didn’t happen, I called again, only to get voicemail. I left a couple more messages and have not heard a word from Mr. Merit since.
A mis-matched downspout wasn’t such a big deal. I was just going to go ahead and hire someone to paint it for us. I also spoke to Angel Price at NEHA, the National Environmental Health Association, who informed me that Mr. Merit was actually not certified as he claimed to be, but was in fact de-certified due to the number of complaints he had.
At this point, I knew I was dealing with someone who had no intention of finishing the job he started, and I also knew that what he did do in my home was probably done wrong. I contacted another radon company (Ace Radon of Littleton, CO) -- this time one th
