Reliance Home Comfort Water Heater Rental Ripoff Oshawa Ontario

We purchased a home in Belleville that was equipped with a rental gas water heater. I contacted Union Energy about having the gas service put in my name and when I inquired about the water heater, the person from Union Gas stated "that has nothing to do with us".
We never received anything from Reliance in our name about the heater.
In the meantime, I replaced the heater with a tankless heater then contact reliance to come and get their heater as we were not using it. I told the person that we had not signed any contract with them and that the heater was not being used and they could come and get it.
It was picked up on the Friday after Christmas. The next day mail was delivered, we received a letter from Reliance sating that we would be billed quarterly for the heater and the account was set up in my wife's name.
I called their number and the person I was talking to told me the next statement would reflect that we owed them nothing.
I just received the statement from them with a balance owing now, of $188.97, which includes rent for the heater for the next 3 months and the previous balance and a service charge.
All this for a water heater we do not have in our home.
