Today, 19 August 2009, out of the blue I receive a call from Joe C at RF Installations. He has just read the report I filed on the site and offers to come to the house and make everything right. He brings a coworker with him and within an hour and a half, I have a repaired door jamb, repaired hardware, a step down on my threshold and a latch that contacts the catch enough to keep the wind from ripping the door open.
I no longer have to worry about the wind tearing my door off because my door is flush with the step down.
I no longer have to look at my ripped up door jamb with disgust every time I go out my back door.
I no longer have to yell at my kids to lock the door when they come in so it doesn't get torn from the hinges.
I'm happy, Joe and his buddy from RF Installations did quality work and were very professional, despite my two kids pestering them with their curious questions. They are stand up guys. They even painted the repair. Thank you, Joe.
I never heard from Home Depot. I don't know if they ever ordered the hardware they said they would. I don't know if I have a gift card waiting for me at Customer Service, and quite frankly, I could care less. I have not set foot in that store since the beginning of the year. I won't even buy their stock, whether it will make me a quick buck or not. Orange is an ugly color to begin with.
My opinion, and this is just my opinion, but I don't think the assistant departmental shift manager, CK, ever even called the installers in the first place. If he had, and got in touch with Joe, this would have been taken care of a long time ago. Once again, thank you Joe, you have the pride in ownership that I spoke of originally.
