This is to allow anyone interested in any portable structure, to steer clear of John. he won't return your call when needing service after purchase. I found out thru clear span that the 4 foot spacing on the ribs isn't designed for Maine winters, but the building with stood 2 previous winters and colasped with only 5 inches of snow on it. after several calls and e mails none of which were answered.
I contacted Clear Span. I can get another building at a big discount. YA RIGHT! Im regretting buying the other buildings from him. waiting for them to give way and be told it was an act of mother nature. so do it right and build a structure for your equipment and toys or you will be left out in the cold. did I mention I had to pull 4 cord of firewood out on my hands and knees.
So be warned....
Got your goat

I purchased a Clear Span unit myself from the Shelterman in Windham about 10 years ago and it has held up very well. Mine has had well over a foot of snow on it at times and never once showed signs of collapsing as indicated by the Poland resident. Two years ago I purchased a shelter logic brand shelter from the same oufit based in Augusta and it too stands up well to the Maine winters. They are nice structures and I think common sense prevails when owning these units. They are not designed to hold massive snow loads, so cleaning them off is essential, just like you would your house roof when you think there is too much snow on it. I have dealt directly with both locations over the years and they are always friendly, helpful and curtious and have always returned my phone calls. My experience is, they are a great product and great people to deal with. I have alot of friends that have bought from them as well and say the same, so if your looking, give them your business.

I have to disagree with the person who said "give them your business". The Shelterman is well known to sell those ugly green tarp like covers that won't stand up to Maine winters. Many have been destroyed here in Augusta by a small amount of snow. It is well known in the area that if you want to buy something to use for storage... buy one made of wood, build one made of wood or at least get one made of metal. Take the shelterman and send him to Florida to sell his stuff there. Oh wait, there are hurricanes in that state so they won't hold up there either.
They are nothing but an overpriced tent!

I have to agree with the guy from Poland Me. If anyone has ever dealt with the owner, John Carlberg, then you would know where he's coming from. I have never in my life met someone so self centered and pompus! I was at the Fryberg fair this year 2011 and went to his booth to inquire about shelter prices. The guy made me feel like I was a idiot! Every question I asked, was replied to with a I know it all attitude. The guy wouldnt even get up out of his chair to talk to myself or others in his booth. Others made comments about his poor dispostion. I asked if he knew the difference from rhino shelters and his shelter logic and my answer was rhinos are a piece of s**t, go buy one and you'll see. I know of others who have had run ins with him as well and its amazing he is still in business!
