The exact same thing that happened to the people in Orange Park happened to me and to my neighbor. After the Jacksonville Home and Patio Show this past February, I received an estimate from First Coast Fencing LLC. Thinking they were legitimate, I agreed to have a fence installed by them. Little did I know that I was going to get ripped off the way I have. What I don't understand is how a huge event like the Home and Patio show would allow people like them to participate.
I tried numerous times to contact them by phone and email to find out what the status of the fence was. Then they started avoiding me by rejecting my calls. They were going straight to voicemail. It has been more than two months since I gave them half of the cost of the fence, $2,439.00 plus $1.00 usage fee from the PayPal website and I have yet to see work done. This is unacceptable!
Two days ago, my daughter finally got a hold of Breck Crocker, one of their salesmen. He was very rude to her and the bottom line of this was that nothing was said and/or done as he hung up on her. Since I have been unable to reach Michael Cummings, the owner and the one that took our money, I gave them two options via phone and email, to either work on the fence this week or simply return the money. However, Breck Crocker said that could not be done because of the contract. I never received a contract or a copy.
It has been more than two months and I never received a copy of this, or information about the fence. Due to the lack of communication and that no work has been done, I informed them that I had been forced to take legal action. I tried to contact them many times to reach an agreement but unfortunately to no avail. I recently sent a fax to the number they have on their website to see if that way they'll respond…I'm still waiting for them to contact me.
Beware of FIRST COAST FENCING LLC/MICHAEL CUMMINGS/BRECK CROCKER!!! I'm pretty sure there have been more people getting ripped off by these people. I found out at other websites that people left comments similar to ours. They give him the money, promises starting the work on the fence after two or three weeks, and then the lack of communication. In addition, I found out he's had several complaints under another company of his, Safeguard Fencing, 6 complaints from 2009 alone according to the Better Business Bureau website. Hope this helps some people to not do business with Michael Cummings or Breck Crocker/First Coast Fencing LLC.
