To all my fellow victims:
Long story short, my husband and I fell prey to Rock Tops end of May, 2008. We placed a deposit for granite in the amount of $3.500.00 on a house that we had not closed on at the time making us believe it was refundable. Two days later, we attempted to cancel. SURPRISE - would not let us do so.
On December 13th, we stopped in at the Macomb location to have our granite which was allegedly put aside for us "when we were ready" and requested that it be delivered to us uncut. All we wanted was our stone out of their possession and into ours. After numerous games of telephone calls and voicemail, my husband finally talked to "Bob" who I believe was one of the co-owners. Their "legal" department would not allow them to deliver to us uncut granite so my husband told them to cut it in half and deliver. Obviously, we never got that far since the closed their doors shortly thereafter. A friend of ours boss (did repair work for Rock Tops who also is owed a lot of money) received a call that Friday (December 19th) that they were closing their doors.
Suffice it to say, I have been on a mission ever since. I just got off the phone w/ one of our local television stations who has not only given me a personal cell phone number BUT an e-mail address. They are running w/ the story this week and would LOVE to have more people like you in the story. Let's face it people - it's the news - the more victims - the better the story is. This is one of our local channels that loves to track these kinds of stories for the benefit of the people to hopefully help us all out and have been successful in doing so on numerous occasions. I can only hope this helps our cause and for the life of me I cannot see why not!!! If you are interested, please post a reply to this report and I will let my contact know. NBC local News did a report on the 11 o'clock news last Friday, Jan. 2 on Rock Tops closing its stores. One of the reporters came out to get my comments on the Saline, MI store closing with my order still inside of it! The reporter thought the Macomb MI Sheriff dept might investigate Rock Tops for fraud. I would urge everyone that has been ripped off to contact the Sheriff dept. Maybe if enough people do, they will investigate!!!
