Scenario #1:
When you board the bus, the driver asks you where you are going. When you see that the bus is getting farther, rather than nearer to your destination, the driver refuses to let you off of the bus with a free bus transfer; instead, she tells you if you choose to get off and take a different bus, you must to pay another dollar! The driver is taking you all the way to the end of the line and back again! You ask the driver how long it will take to get to where you are going. Driver informs you that it will take an hour. You ask how much closer to your destination will you get by riding for an extra hour. Driver says, one block closer.

Scenario #2:
Driver asks you where you are going. Before stepping onto the bus, you ask the driver for an ETA as to when you will reach your destination if you board this bus. Driver gives you an ETA amounting to 27 minutes into the future. Driver arrives at destination in approximately double that amount of time, so that it is too late to go there and get back in time. So you have paid a dollar for nothing, for you cannot reach your destination in time and instead must ride the bus back to your starting point. Driver refuses to refund your dollar.

I am presently at war with Fort Smith Transit over the dollar that they owe me for Scenario #2, plus the $1.98 in cell phone minutes I used to report this incident to them. They have banned me permanently from their bus system, because they don't like it that I am demanding reimbursement. So now, they will have to reimburse me the $2.98 in CASH, rather than bus passes. I have never seen a bus service like this, EVER. The drivers will advise you to take any route that will eventually reach your destination, with no regard to whether it is the shortest or the longest way there. They have no concept of the value of time; presumably because they are paid so very little. They will take you a full hour out of your way to get you one block closer to your destination, and when you see they are headed in the wrong direction, they will tell you if you don't like it you can pay another dollar on a different bus. The drivers will give you false information about their schedule; yet, the company will not take any action against the driver who has provided the false information and pathetic customer service. The company refuses to be held accountable for their drivers' incompetence.

I understand, but...

I understand your problem and have experienced it personally, but if you're really this angry over $2.98, it sounds like something else is goin' on. Besides, walking is always a healthy alternative. :)
