Thanks to all of you who reported.
One of my partners invited the sales rep to pitch us this companies services. I was intrigued by the 3-day $350 evaluation of our business that was supposed to cover 233 specific areas. I knew it would be a pitch but I could see the value in the report. However something didn't smell right.
The analyst came an iterviewed me in the morning last monday. He seemed genuine and interested. He also seemed to know what he was talking about. BUT something still didn't seem right so I checked on line and found these reports. I believe every company has some bad press and I needed to keep an open mind as to not unfairly prejudice the company.
I followed all the tips given in the reports. The cracks started to show up quickly. The pitch was still strong but I was a slight bit sharper in math than the analyist and began to see the "method" behind the "creative" reports.
Anyway I stayed up most of the night scouring the net for more information and developed a point by point plan to verify the company's integrity. I believe that the analyist genuinely believes in the product and has limited knowledge of the back end scam if any. I also believe that the product has some value IF it is efficiently/properly implemented AND the customer understands what they are getting.
HOWEVER... My "maximum" estimate for a Profit Plan using Breakeven strategies was to be 180 hours @ $182/hr plus expenses for 2 consultants. The total for two weeks would have been $38,000 +++. AMAZINGLY the analyst had been questioning me "If you needed $40,000 in an emergency could you get it?" in the first hours of our session??? This was way before he had ever seen any financial information on our company. I called my Personal Consultant and asked about his costs to develop and implement such a plan. 1 - 2 days max @ $225/hour with no expenses = $4000 with training and manual. Not only that but quickbooks has built in features to generated most of the reporting and you can buy software on the net to do it yourself. I also left a message for a friend of mine who has been a CFO for many national companies but have not heard back yet.
Of course this would only solve one area of my "doomed" business. We never really covered all 233. Maybe 33 if that. Anyway I gave him the $350 and said "no deal"... He is going to stop by again this afternoon. I told him I thought that was wierd but???? Anyway I reported this to "5 on your side" a bay area televison show that investigates this type of stuff.
Recap.... if done right, efficiently and fairly with the customers best interest at heart Gerge S. May could actually help a ton of samll businesses and make a nice profit even with their canned solutions. However there seems to be an extreme element of greed and a serious (almost criminal) lack of concern for both the customers and employees.
Thanks again for the tip off to the rip off...
