Amazon is now hiding a new program into your account page.  They are calling it Amazon Prime and they give you 1 month for free sometimes 3 months for free and then they start billing you, without authorization, 79.00$.

This is a scam and predatory business practices to steal your money.  They say if you do not uncheck the box then they will bill you.  What??  What box?  When?

Excuse me, but online shopping takes trust and how can you trust a company that is going to use your credit card as their personal debit card.  Forget my business.

Beware, they are putting people into unknown services and then billing you for it.

Don't be silly...

AUTHOR: Edgeman - Chico (U.S.A.)

Amazon does not hide their Prime program from members. I'm a Prime subscriber and began with the free 90 day trial. I liked the service and chose to remain a subscriber. If you miss the option not to renew, you can always go to the "MY Account" link and then click on "Manage Prime Membership". I'll attach a screen cap that clearly shows a button you can click to cancel as well as another button that says "Do not renew".

Even if you are charged the $79 fee Amazon will give you a full refund so long as you don't use the Prime service after you have been charged. Amazon is very upfront about that fee and it is certainly not an unknown service as the customer has to actively sign up for it.

Here's the link to the Prime sign up page if anybody would like to check the terms and conditions:

Give me a break, you dont just take money out of peoples account.

AUTHOR: Pamela - fresno (U.S.A.)

In case you are unaware let me educate you on predatory practices.

First, you do not automatically put a customer into a new program without their knowledge or consent.

Second, you do not say in small print if you do not uncheck this box you will automatically be billed 79.00 and enrolled into this program.

Third, why would people want to pay 79.00 to save money with the bogus program.

Fourth, if the program was so good then why do they have to hide the information and then sneak you into the "billing" practices.  If it is a good program then people would gladly pay for the services.

Fifth, Why would the bank think this is bogus business practices?

Sixth, why are identity theft companies now watching the movements of Amazon?

As far as I am concerned you can have this now scamming company!  When I shop some where I want to be notified UPFRONT if there are any extra fees or charges.  Not buried into some page some where and automatically put into some stupid savings group that I have to pay for!

Ludicrous and if you are one of the employees watch the customer's fall off.  This is a scam!

Um, no.

Sorry to break it to you, but Amazon Prime is more than just a problem for people who are too stupid to unenroll, or who are just looking for cheap shipping.

I was charged for their service, after cancelling it.  I found out that I had actually been billed 2 days before the cut-off for the cancellation.  Which, in my mind, is a fraudulent charge to my account, since I had two full days left to change my mind.

Amazon, like other retailers, cannot charge for a good or service before the due date for such, but they did.

Now, you are correct in that they offered to reimburse the charge--however--I do not use any credit cards, so the account they charged was my checking.  And even though they are able to yank the funds out of my account well before the date in which they should have done so, it seems that putting the money back is a problem for them.  THAT will take at least 2-3 days to process.  Now, mind you, the date that the transaction to pull from my checking was a Sunday.  The day that the charge was slated to hit my account was Martin Luther King Day, so the bank was closed.

And by the way, your response to the problem was pretty condescending.
