I had put my direct tv on hold due to financial hardship. When I called Direct Tv to just cancel the service rather than reinstate it they told me that they cannot do that because of a contract. First of all I never signed a contract. They told me it did not matter. Then he told me that they would just go ahead and bill the credit card on file for any cancellation fees. I told them to remove that card number and they tell me they cannot do it. What can I do so that I can stop this service and not be charged for something that I never signed into.

one way to stop credit or debit card charges?

hello i used to live in sanford...i have similar problem with direct tv..i was told by my bank about the only way to stop this is to cxl your card and request new one with new numbers before charges are assessed

Hate to break it to you..

but everything they said is correct.  I am not an advocate nor employee of Direct TV and personally would not have it in my home but, when you first agreed to start service and had the equipment installed, did you sign a installation work order?  I'm sure you did and anyway when you agreed to have the equipment installed in your home you agreed to a contract commitment.

Cancelling your CC will only result in Direct TV instituting legal action against you.  Bad advice to run from a debt.
