I live in Cortland Ohio and moved here in September of 2008. I received a mailer from Time Warner promising 'triple play'....phone, internet and cable for one low price of $124.50; this was a flyer received by mail. No one mentioned the boxes were extra or that the internet wireless was extra. Also, the televisions not hooked up to boxes only had a limited amount of channels. I was told my payment would be 169.99 after install by a customer service representative -Letititia in the Cleveland Ohio office I believe. I was not pleased and felt that I had been lied to. I received one bill which was higher than the agreed amount...When I called about this bill, I was told by changing my service (adding one box;this was included in the $169.99 billing amount) there was a one time charge. This was the last bill I ever received from this company. I called repeatedly and was told I had signed up for email billing. I did not do so. When I asked what email address the bills were sent to Time Warner could/would not tell me. I asked for supervisors repeatedly. None were ever available...they would call me back. No one ever did. The name of the supervisor in the Cleveland office is Myra...they refused to give me a last name (not safe) or an employee number. This went on until March when the weather broke, I cut down trees and fired Time Warner and installed Direct TV in early April...love it. They deliver what is promised. I refused to pay my last Time Warner bill-$256.00 without some sort of payment history. They will not send you a bill so I went down to the Time Warner office and asked for a printout when I returned my equipment. The printout is incomprehensible for the most part, but I learned one important fact. They were charging me $39.99 for the phone separately...I was not enrolled in triple play or whatever they call it these days. Also, in February, my discount for signing up for 12 months guaranteed price was dropped. No surprise this coincided with a rate hike. Letitia told me on Friday that I did not do the third party phone verification correctly...she also refused to give me a supervisor again...one is supposed to call, but based on history, this will not happen. Thus, I have been paying extra for a phone that was supposedly included in the price. The phone was hooked up later than the cable...we had severe storms and I was told the phone would be hooked up on 9-30-08. It was but somehow this allowed them (in their incompetent customer service) to charge me for the phone and as for cable, I was charged the regular price-no specials or discounts. This is a bait and switch technique for sure and possibly mail fraud as the offer was sent through the mail. I just received another of their special offers on Saturday-ironic-now they are offering triple play for $89.95.-sure. The service was terrible, the internet never worked properly. They sent one person out just before I fired them who informed me that the internet was hooked up impoperly...well guess what Time Warner ran all the lines and hooked everything up. Not only do I not owe them $256.00, they owe me $30.00. I would appreciate any help in this matter and would be happy to be involved in a class action suit as after viewing the web complaints, I see this is a common practice for Time Warner...everywhere and most particulary North Eastern Ohio. Thank you for any help you can give me in this matter.

Okay...so most of it sounds like it's your fault...

AUTHOR: Thesadtruth - Kent (U.S.A.)

According to everything you've said, it sounds like it's your fault. You didn't go through the Third Party verification properly. And secondly....were you forced into the service? Did someone hold a gun to your head? Then being upset about the 169.00 bucks (which, even you stated was a one time charge), on TOP of you adding an additional box, is just uncalled for.

YOU added extra service. YOU agreed to the entire promotion (which you didn't complete properly to recieve), and then you want to complain about it? You were given the one time price BEFORE you were sent to the Third Party Verification, were you not? You were aware of what it was going to be that one time, BEFORE you were sent over to the Third Party, were you not? Therefore, you agreed to go through with that 169, before you decided to change services and add an additional box, did you not?

So tell me.....how can you still point the finger elsewhere?

And for the record, I HAVE the phone. Normal price for the phone is 49.99. You're getting it for 39.99. It's listed on the bill seperately because the bill is itemized. But by bundling things, you're getting it for ten dollars off.

And no, switch that, pal. YOU owe Time Warner 256 bucks. They don't owe you anything. They came out, attempted to rectify the Internet problem (which MAYBE you should recieve a credit for that. A little one, at least), but you somehow feel they owe YOU money? You were aware there was a balance, you just refuse to pay it, out of some unknown spite.

It just amazes me, that as a consumer myself, people like you WANT WANT WANT WANT........but refuse to realize when things are their own fault sometimes. Time Warner's been good to me. I'm a loyal supporter. And I had Dish...good luck when the winter hits, and you have no picture.
