So I've had comcast cable and highspeed internet service for 3 months now. All was well until today I went online to pay my bill and noticed some charges I did not recognize. There was about a dozen pay-per-view orders, all adult movies, orderd almost at the same time. The total in question was $140. Heres my situation: I have two daughters both under 2 years old. My wife of 5 years (we dated for 7 years) definity did not order these adult movies. I had no visitors during the time frame the orders were made. So I call comcast customer service and after dealing with two reps I asked for a supervisor. The supervisor assured me that someone in my house ordered them. I reassured her that we absolutely did not order these adult movies. Then she tries to convince me that someone in my home could have accidentally ordered them using the cable box. Yes I know accidents can happen, but 12 times? First she offered to credit 3 movies then she offered to credit half the total pay-per-view charges. To me this is unacceptable and highway robbery! Its outrageous that just because comcast says I ordered something, then I have to pay for it. The supervisor could have realized that I was telling the truth but no she insisted that someone in my house ordered those porn movies. Please comcast, dont make me laugh. Comcast does shady business. I learned my lesson, and Im warning everyone else.

Comcast may not be deserving of your criticism...

AUTHOR: Anonymous In Indiana - Fairland (U.S.A.)

Although I have no knowledge of the people or practices at Comcast California, as a former Comcast Indianapolis employee I can tell you that there is probably justification for their position. You would be amazed at the number of times people called to get Pay Per View credits only to acknowledge during the course of the conversation that a friend, family member, or (more often than not) a child had actually placed the orders. Especially with little ones, they often randomly hit buttons and order several movies back to back. Although it is obvious by the times that no one actually "watched" the programs, the orders were almost always legitimately placed. This has even happened in my own home, although thankfully my 12 yr old son was ordering Disney movies so a little less costly. The supervisor was working outside the "norm" to offer 1/2 off the PPV charges. If you really feel you're being charged unfairly and you have never requested PPV credits before, you may even get them to go up to 75%. Any PPV credits will usually be extended as a one time courtesy though, so be sure to set Parental and Purchase locks to guarantee this can't happen in the future. If you still feel like you're getting the short end of the stick, you can usually speak with the "retention" team and renegotiate your package cost. While you may still end up paying for the movies, the overall savings over a 3-6 month period (or sometimes even up to a year) will generally save you more than the amount you are being billed that you consider unfair or incorrect.

Those movies were definitely ordered from one of your cable boxes

AUTHOR: Aw - Cleveland (U.S.A.)

There's no doubt that someone ordered those movies from your home. By looking at the order history they can even see which specific cable box was the one that was used for the orders. That could help you pinpoint the culprit, call tech support and ask them for the serial number of the box that was used...was it in the kid's room? In your bedroom?

Whenever I deal with these situations (which is rare) then I tell the customer what box, what date/time, etc the order was placed...then I ask them, "Did you have any visitors at that time" and "Do you have parental controls in place to prevent adult purchases?" - I advise them on how to set up a pin number to prevent this and I even offer to set their cable boxes to block out all PPV purchases or to block specific ratings (X, NC17, etc).

I'm sorry that you got charged for all of those purchases and just be happy that the supervisor offered to credit anything.
