Camera Giants Won't sell item at advertised price unless purchase outrageously priced accessories! Internet

I found the camera I was looking for at their website, for an unbelievably cheap price. The low price made me suspicious, but the website looked legitimate. I ordered the camera and immediately received an email stating that someone at the company would have to verify some information with me. I received a phone call from them the next day; they did not wait for me to call.

The call was not about verifying information. I was very politely told that I had 'forgotten' some important accessories, such as a camera battery. I said that I would just use the one that comes with the camera and was purchasing the back up from Amazon, where it costs about $60. This company's same battery costs $149! Only, the still polite man informs me that the included battery and one from Amazon only last 20 minutes and their battery lasts a lot longer. The man is just plain lying to me! I continue to decline his offers and finally ask, 'So is this why the camera was so cheap?' His polite tone disappears, he says no, the camera will be shipped in two weeks, and hangs up. (He never mentions that it is on backorder!)

I mention my experience to someone who had heard of this company and they said I could be sure the camera would never arrive. So, I called the company back a couple days later and was told the camera was on backorder for 6-8 weeks. I managed to cancel the order but the nice tone of voice is gone the second they realize there is no sale! Also, the same camera is still listed online as available and can be shipped immediately (for an inflated price)!

I can't understand how this company hasn't been shut down! My complaint is just another in a long line of EXACTLY the same scam!! Beware Camera Giants! Perhaps they keep changing their name? (and I learned my lesson to always do an internet search on a company's name before buying from them for the first time... Camera Giants has so many complaints!!)
