I decided to treat myself to a new DSLR so I could do some more creative photography in the new year. I shopped around online and ordered £743 of new camera equipment on 4/1/10 from www.crazycameras.co.uk, which I thought was a UK company.
They're actually based in the USA (Portland?) with distributors in the Philippines, although it doesn't say on their website.
The order was 'in stock' supposed to arrive in 3-5 days. 3 weeks later I still haven't received any goods, nothing has been shipping, they do not answer their telephone, and any email correspondence is a lot of vague nonsense about supplies. Searching around online I found HUNDREDS of people with the same problems, all of whom get exactly the same response. No-one seems to receive anything.
They have since told me that they are now unable to cancel orders via phone / email, and it has to be done via their website - but their website has ZERO facilities for cancelling anything. Orders are always 'pending shipping'.
Part of the original order (fish eye lens £31) was out of stock and cancelled by them, but they STILL charged me for it anyway.
This seems like an obvious scam and illegal activity. I have raised the matter with my bank and consumer services in the UK, but as the company is actually overseas I am not having much luck. This is money that I can ill afford.
