I recently went to HHGREGG to exchange a camera that I had gotten as a gift, it just wasn't the one I wanted. When I got there I was swarmed by salesman as usual. Once I mentioned I wanted to exchange the camera they literally walked away leaving me standing alone. After awhile I found what I was looking for and had to go ask two seperate people to help me. When I was paying for the items(Ibought some accessories as well) I was told the camera was out of stock but it would be in the truck on the following Wed.

I called Wed. to insure it was there before I drove there, it was not.I was told there was no room on the truck for my camera, how big could this camera have been that it could not fit on a huge truck?I was told by the CSR it would be an additional 7-10 days but she could not say for sure. When I asked to speak to the manager I was on hold for over five minutes even though I just heard him talking to the csr.He told me quite rudely either wait the 10 days, go to Eastgate Ohio(over 30 miles away) to pick it up or return it. I found that shocking because all total My husband and I had spent over $1500 at the store that day.The manager could not have cared less that we were upset over the wait time. My daughter has her fist violin recital this weekend and I was looking forward to using my new SLR camera. I even filed a complaint at the company web-site, I quickly got back an e-amil that said a member of management would be calling shortly to discuss my problem. It has been two days, no camera, no call, I am not holding my breathe. My guess is that HHGREGG will be the next specialty store to bite the dust, the service is absolutely terrible once they have your money.

Reason why small items may not fit on the truck

As for the service you received, I apologize. However, while you may think, "How can one little camera not fit on a truck," the fact is it very easily can't.

In order to protect small items like cameras and camcorders and mp3 players from damage and theft, when they are sent to stores, they are sent in locked bins instead of just loose on the truck. These bins are roughly the size of a "watermelon pen" you see in grocery stores. Black friday is the #1 selling day for cameras and camcorders, so these pens fill up quickly. Once you get one stacked on another, you've basically got something the size of two refrigerators taking up a lot of space on the truck.

The week after black friday is a very busy week for customer pickups, and sometimes the trucks can't fit everything. At my store, that's why every morning that week, we check open orders and call the customers whose items didn't make it on the truck. At the store level, we do not know until that morning what will be on the truck.

I'm surprised that you say the manager told you 10 days! No store ever has to wait more than four days for the next truck, even our smallest stores.

I would suggest, if you are still unhappy, to call 1-800-28-GREGG (1800-284-7344) and speak to one of our customer service staff.
