I am a user of lensrentals.com and tried to use the lens depot.com recently before the 4th of july and its a scam!
After submitting my order, having my billing and ship to address both in florida now they wanted a picture of my phone bill, a picture of my state ID and date of birth.

The phone number they call you from is not the one in the site and the email comes signed from someone else yet if you trace the email it is composed by some oscar guy. Then they have the odasity to say my order was charged but my items wont ship untill I send them the required information.

I have contacted my credit card company and am filling a complaint with the BBB.

I asked multiple times not to charge me if they were not going to send me the rented lenses and all I recieved in responce was:

Your order has been voided. Nice try. Have a Happy 4th!

The Original complainer is a scammer

I have personally met both Oscar and Magda. They are both wonderful people and run an honest business. I have rented Canon lenses and flash equipment from them at least 5 different times. They are true to their word and will do whatever it takes to get the job done. When I first signed up with them they had me scan my Drivers License and email it to them for credit card verification. Big Deal! I was about to rent close to $4,000 worth of equipment. I can understand the security needed. They charge your card when you place the order, and they ship the stuff once they can confirm no fraud has been committed, its plain and simple people. I also rent from lensrentals.com and they are great too. But my first choice is my local thelensdepot.com.

They are a family operation and not as big as lensrentals.com but they have the best personalized customer service and always keep their equipment clean and ready for the next customer.

A positive experience with The Lens Depot

I happened upon the report while googling the lens depot so that I could use them again. I used their services last year and I have to say that the complaints in the report seem completely different than my experience. I don't often have occasion to rent lenses but they were more than courteous and helpful and that is why I am using them again.

It is not in my nature to file rebuttals but the complaint I saw filed was so contrary to my own positive experience that I felt it must either be untrue or grossly exaggerated.

Individual who posted a fraud complaint against us had stolen someone's identity.

Like other online rental houses we have strict Billing/shipping address policy to protect our equipment. The individual who posted a fraud complaint about us supposedly lives in Naples FL but was vacationing in Ft Lauderdale. They had their ship to address in a very bad part of town. We make exceptions to individuals who would like to have the equipment sent to their place of work but we do ask for additional information about themselves and proof of employment. This individual did not want to furnish any information. The number that they provided was no good and was a Ft Lauderdale area code...(just vacationing huh ?)

Our customer service dept e-mailed the person and asked for them to call us. They e-mailed back and told us that in the building they were working in they were not allowed to make out bound phone calls.(again they were supposed to be vacationing ?) They then started questioning why someone else other than the person listed on our website was contacting them. We have several associates taking care of clients and answering questions all the time. Once this individual asked that if we were not going to ship the equipment, that we needed to void the transaction we quickly did. Also this individual rented not 1 but 2 of the same lenses ?? We are customer service driven, we may not be the biggest but we certainly have the fastest response time in our industry and have made many clients very happy with our attention to detail and service. We are a local sponsor with the Orlando Camera Club www.orlandocameraclub.com , and we are also affiliated with Florida Photographer Magazine. Anyone that has any doubts on doing business with is is certainly welcome to call me and or shoot me an e-mail at oscar@thelensdepot.com
