Americredit False Reporting Forth Worth, Texas

My car was finaced by americredit back in 2000 with a very high interest rate, paid for my car 3 mintes with the interested they have me. Of course I didnt know any better because back then I was a young adult. As the years went on I was in between joba and fell a lil behind in the payment, I started to receive nasty harrassing calls from reps of americredit. I then got back on my feet and started making my payments on time then I ran into another problem, the vehicle was stolen. My car was eventually found and burned to ashes :-(. My insurance company and Gap insurance coverd all expsense that needed to be cover but americredit has reported this acct to the credit agency as a charge off. I've contacted americredit to discuss this matter regarding the reporting and they will not removed this from my credit report as a charge off. I cant seem to understand why would this be considered as a charge off when the car was stolen. Someone please assist me on how I can get this matter resolved.
