My daughter is a single parent and on active duty in the Air Force. She bought a Jeep in Oct. 2001 and financed it through Chrysler Finance. She asked, at that time, if it would be a problem to take her vehicle overseas as she would be sent there sooner or later. She was told it would not be a problem.

The orders for deployment arrived this spring and she prepared to leave. She took her vehicle to Dallas to be shipped and was told she needed a letter of permission from Chrysler first. Ok, she contacted them and they said to send a copy of orders, proof of overseas insurance, five references and proof of U.S. citizenship. She did all of that, spent money to start insurance with a different company, but had to keep insurance for the U.S. until the vehicle was shipped.

August 20, 2002 the information was faxed. She was told they would take 10 days to respond. She waited and waited. In the meantime she has had to deploy and leave the vehicle with us to ship.

Today she finds out the request has been turned down ( she only found out because she called them) because her orders are not on the list of approved countries. So now she has two insurance company coverages, a big car payment, and no vehicle to use.

The company should have been more honest up front and make the "list of approved companies" available for military people. I don't think military families would want to risk being in this situation if they had a choice! And how about responding to the request to her instead of dissapproving it but not letting her know.

This is some fine way to honor the military who sacrifice for their country. I did not think the sacrifices would come from our own people.
