I recently was deemed medically not able to work and am waiting on a short term disability payment I have spoken to several people at the company and they refuse to want to offer me a way out. I offered to add more money to my next several payments to ake up for the missed payment and they will not work with me. They call my place of employment of which im no at right now and leave threatening messages on my voice mail.

Im not trying to get out of making the payments i just need some compassion at this point what can I do?

#1 Consumer Suggestion

Some Suggestions ..actually easier to buy a home than a car.

AUTHOR: Christopher - Stow (U.S.A.)

Lisa,

You are in a tough situation...some lenders are willing to work with folks with circumstances beyond their control and unfortunately some lenders are not willing at all, no matter what the circumstances. Legally they don't have to be.

The quantity of postings concerning this company doesn't indicate they are willing to negotiate much or any at all. Car financing is a tough business and it is actually easier to buy a home than a car.

Perhaps when you bought the car you may have purchased disability insurance? If so use that avenue to have the payments made or whatever the insurance provides to you or the account.

If this isn't applicable I'd suggest you send a certfied or registered letter, return receipt indicating your problems to Driver and indicate your problems are no fault of your own and indicate how you propose to work it out in the least amount of time. You need to think this through because if by being disabled you will realistically not be able to make full and timely payments then it is no longer feasable to own the car.

If they are not willing to listen unfortunately they may repossess the vehicle anyway.

I wish you the best.

A Word Of Advice

AUTHOR: Dawn - Eastland (U.S.A.)

Lisa,

I know exactly what you are going through with Drive Financial. They will continue to threaten and harass you until they get the payment. I have never dealt with anyone like these people. My advice to you and I wish I'd done this myself but you need to record your phone conversations with them. They do step way outside of the FTC guidelines and you will have solid evidence in court. I'm really suprised that they havent been sued yet. They have gone as far as having repo people show up at my house, telling me to give them the car or I'll be arrested. This is all illegal and violates FTC guidelines. Best of luck to you Lisa.

#3 Consumer Suggestion

Be sure to get a tape recorder and record them.

AUTHOR: Gary - Plano (U.S.A.)

IN the state of TEXAS they don't have to know your taping them, they are a "ne party state".. Then once that have them on tape sue them. Under the FDCA you could get as much as $1,000..Best of luck. Also be sure you did't buy any other insurance that will pick up if u get laid off.. Some times they add it and you don't know that you paid for it .Also ask them if u can Defer a payment
