HSBC AUTO FINANCE CAR PAID, LIEN RELEASED, TITLE RECEIEVED, NOTE MARKED PAID AND RETURNED, STILL COLLECTING MONEY! SAN DEIGO California

Sold car that was financed with HSBC auto. Send check to HSBC to pay off car and received title to the car and the original contract/note marked paid. Gave car and title to new buyer. Weeks later HSBC reverses the amount payment and wants payment. They have no explanation what happened to the pay off check. They did not charge bounce fee or say it was bounced. They did not cash the check from what I can tell or even attempt to do so. Did they lose it? Now I have no car and no title. They have no lien and no contract but expect payment. They have been destroying my credit and call about once an hour. I have send two letters trying to get them to stop and show them the problem but they don't respond. Just sent the last letter to their collections rep who does not believe me about the scenario. I am hoping she will see I am telling the truth. They say they even want to repo the car!!! I would love to see that happen with no title or lien. I don't even have it!
