Coast National Insurance - Bristol West - All Your Insurance, Bristol West Insurance Billing me for $50 cancellation fee, when their failure to communicate with me was the reason for the cancellation. Davie, Florida

I had a vehicle which was insured by Coast National Insurance.  On May 20, 2009 I purhased a new car.  Whereupon I called "All Your Insurance" (their agent) to request that they insure my new vehicle.

Meanwhile, I was required to purchase interim insurance from the dealership before I could take delivery of the vehicle.  My old car was part of my down payment, therefore I no longer needed to insure it.

When I hadn't heard from Coast National, Bristol West or All Your Insurance by June 1, 2009, I called Coast National and cancelled my insurance with them.  They billed me $50 for having cancelled the policy and said nothing about my request for additional insurance.  At this point I signed with another insurance company.

Now Coast is dunning me for payment of $37 through some collector in New Hampshire.

I had written to the Department of Insurance for the State of Arizona.  Their response was to cosign for Coast National Insurance.  Another wste of taxpayer money.

It is inconceivable to me that insurance companies feel they can cancel policies, but policyholders cannot.
