Esurance/Allstate began with reasonable and fair market value premium rates, but in the past 2-3 years, they have sharply increased premium rates at every renewal period. These rates add up to be outside what is considered fair, reasonable and legal within the state of california; rates are regulated by the CA Dept of Insurance to assure consumers are not price gouged.

My experience started at 60, then over two years rose to 106 per month. Geico was able to offer the same policy with the same technologies, for 65 per month. Yes, the difference between fair and reasonable (though expensive) and unfair and unreasonable is 41 dollars per month; 40% mark up. Yes. it is true.

I don't take it personal as I've no doubt this same business strategy of gouging consumers is wide spread. It won't stop until enough of us write the story, tell the story and pursue legal action against Esurance. Have you had a similar experience with them related to billing and premiums?
