I had a lease agreement with GE that included GAP insurance. My car was stolen and totaled. My insurance paid off my car. GAP insurance should take care of the rest. Not according to GE.

They sent me a bill for excessing mileage for a car that does not exist anymore. Not only that, GE no longer owns the car. The insurance company owns it. I was told that GAP would cover any and all monies that insurance did not cover. They say its not true.

Has someone had a similar experience? I tried to explain to them that the contract reads "If there is a Total Loss, you will not be liable for the GAP." They act like its Greek.

Suggestion

AUTHOR: Adam - Bloomington ()

I would suggest contacting the Illinois State Department of Insurance. They can be reached at 217-782-7446. I'm not sure if they can help since the coverage was on a lease agreement, but it's worth a try.

Good Luck.
