I have had a GEICO policy on my motorcycle for years. A few months ago, while parking, I ran over a stone which caused me to slightly dent the rear bumper of a parked car.

I reported it to GEico and the auto was repaired at a cost of about $500.

I was paying a premium of about $200 per year.

I just received my renewal and they have doubled my premium to $400.

I have had no tickets or accidents prior to this incident.

So, in fact, Geico is making me pay back the $500 and who knows how much more.

Screw them.

Meanwhile I gave all truthful info, including this claim, to Progressive and got the same amount of insurance for $145.

Sounds about right........

AUTHOR: Adolph - Homosassa (USA)

Last year I (at fault) took out the side of a Buick Lucerne with my motorhome. My premiums on ALL 5 of my insured vehicles promptly doubled. My FIRST "at fault" accident in over 50 years of driving.
.
Against my better judgement, I was obliged to lower my coverage limits just to pay what I felt I could justify for "insurance". I then reduced my fleet of seldom driven vehicles to two.
.
Insurance companies:  'ya gotta' love em........NOT!

The accident depends on the state that policy is set up in. Most are being converted so an accident with less than 1 k will not affect your rate, but there is still a few out there that is not the case

Things got over $1K...........

AUTHOR: Adolph - Homosassa (USA)

Between the Buick @ $7000. +/-and my motorbox @ $3000. +/-we shot the hell out of $1K. Plus the aging female in the Buick (who else drives Buicks in FL?) had to have a "check up" which fortunately only disclosed she was OLD. Even older than I; that's OLD.
